Great communal hang-out areas and sleeping facilities. Staff is welcoming and fun to be around. - Convenient location near key attractions and amenities. - Easy to meet people and make new friends. - Relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere.
Some rooms can get stuffy and uncomfortable, would benefit from better ventilation or fans. Limited outlets in rooms can be inconvenient for charging devices.

Hekerua Lodge is like staying at a friend's house, surrounded by a fun group of people. The rooms have a cozy atmosphere and the shared bathroom is clean and convenient. Free WiFi is available, making it easy to stay connected with friends and family.
Personally, I wasn't a fan of sharing a room with 3 other people, but others might not mind.

We loved the secluded location surrounded by bushes and trees, giving us a nice nature vibe. the clean facilities and friendly staff made our stay enjoyable. We even got treated to some delicious lasagne! the swimming pool, although cold in June, was a refreshing addition to our chill holiday. the well-equipped kitchen, including spices and basic ingredients, was a great help for us backpackers who love cooking. We fell in love with their hollandaise sauce! the entire island was friendly and perfect for a relaxing getaway.
Felt safe, no reason to complain.

The pool and outdoor decking area were fantastic spots to relax and enjoy the sunshine. the kitchen and living room were also really nice, with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. the staff were friendly and helpful, making us feel right at home. Plus, the location was perfect - just a short walk to the beach and a quick drive to the nearby village.
There were a few downsides to our stay. the rooms were quite hot and felt damp, making it uncomfortable to sleep at night.

I absolutely loved the cozy and welcoming atmosphere of Hekerua Lodge. The decoration had a charming rustic touch that made me feel right at home. The common areas were spacious and well-maintained, perfect for socializing with other guests. As a senior, I appreciated the easy accessibility of the lodge, with no steep stairs or long distances to walk. It was a comfortable and inviting place for people of all ages.
While the children working there were friendly and helpful, I would have appreciated a bit more assistance specifically tailored for senior guests. Perhaps having someone available to help carry luggage or provide recommendations for activities that are more suitable for us would have made the vacation even better.

The value for money at this hostel was excellent - comfortable beds, a cozy common area, and a cute atmosphere made it worth every penny. The location was perfect, with a hidden path that shortened the walk to the beach/bus stop, and the staff treated me like family, especially Tomas who ran the place smoothly and made sure everyone felt at home.
Breakfast option could be improved with a wider variety of choices.

The hostel is set in a beautiful location surrounded by native bush, creating a peaceful and scenic atmosphere. Guests can enjoy a spacious deck with fairy lights, a pool, and a spa, providing a relaxing environment to unwind. The rooms are clean and pleasant, ensuring a comfortable stay.
The service provided by the staff could be improved. Some guests reported unfriendly and impolite encounters with the hosts, which affected the overall experience.
